What We Do?

Poor Child Education

We understand that the future of the country is with the educated population and education is a human right, with this objective we are continuously trying to provide basic education to the children from underprivileged families. We tie up with different education institutions to provide free education to the children of underprivileged families so they can earn their livelihood.

We also implement the wisdom of traditional knowledge to contemporary problems via sharing of knowledge between highly educated and poorest of poor in our country. In this regard we organize education training for local community with the help of our volunteers and partner institutions.

Women Empowerment

Various studies, as well as our experience, have shown that when we work towards women empowerment, the whole society benefits. But unfortunately in India, far from empowering women, most are denied even their basic rights like health, education of girls for women empowerment, employment and a respectable status in society. According to a recent UNDP Human Development Report, India has a dangerously imbalanced sex ratio, the chief reason being rampant female infanticide and sex-selective abortions. Jeevan Jyoti Dharmarth Trust, was initiated in 2021 to address these challenges through a simple yet effective approach. The programme is specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collective self-esteem and inner strength for marginalised and socially excluded women and adolescent girls through innovative community practices.

The programme identifies adolescent girls and women from the community and develops them into Change Agents, who in turn actively contribute to the community mobilization process.

So far, Jeevan Jyoti Dharmarth Trust through women's education empowerment program and health programmes has successfully made a difference to the lives of over 2,000 women and girl children.

Youth, Poor Widows and Oppressed Women

WIDOW welfare is not seen as one of the priority areas in India, even though it is home to one of the world’s largest number of widows at over 55 million. Losing a marital partner is a distressing experience for both men and women. But in India, because of religious practices, traditions and patriarchal customs, women often face various problems once they lose their life partner. These include social exclusion, discrimination in inheritance rights, violence, and even abandonment by families in old age. Even if there are laws to protect widows and government-sanctioned pension schemes for widow welfare, most women are simply unaware of their rights. Our societal structures are too weak to offer them safety and the law-implementing agencies are incapable of protecting them from many troubles.

The onus is often on non-profit organisations to help young widows rehabilitate or support the old to live their life in peace. On International Widows’ Day, we look at top India-based non-profit organisations that are working in the field of widow welfare by advancing rights of widows and providing care and access to sustainable livelihoods.

Jeevan Jyoti Dharmarth Trust

This is a Haridwar-based NGO working in widow welfare, rights of widows, violence against women, migrant workers, education, social inequities, legal advocacy, and others. It has benefited tens of thousands of individuals ever since the organisation was founded in 2021.

Old Age Citizens

In recent years, we have undergone to the numerous change where we have seen the rapid rise of nuclear families. There is a significant transformation of culture, social and psychology. With these complications of life and changing environment, the elder people in the society are facing difficulties to live peacefully. The home support for elderly people has become a responsibility of the society where we have seen the rise of old age NGO in the country and to cater their essential healthcare needs is the prior task.

Physically or Mentally Handicapped

Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) are the most marginalized part of our society due to lack of knowledge and proper awareness into them. Approximately 80% of them have no access to any services. In the absence of required facilities many such families are forced to abandon their children on streets. But, it is assumed that an aware and sensitized society can reduce the struggles of such people and their families. Moreover, families need to know the rights of their child. There are several Govt. schemes also there under which based on his/her disability. To address such issues and offer solutions, Jeevan Jyoti Dharmarth Trust has set up its own Counseling Centre in year 2021. Since then, this Kendra has served thousand of persons with disabilities and provided counseling to their respective families also. It is a guidance centre that provides information about all the facilities available to Persons with Disability without any botheration.

Famine, Storm, Earthquake, Flood, Epidemic

Serving mankind is the sole responsibility of a person especially when it comes to vulnerable people. In the past few years, we have seen the constant rise of natural calamities in the number of states of the country. Although, the abroad countries too have undergone with these disastrous harms in the form of earthquake, tsunami etc.

Let’s discuss for these calamities in our own country India. When it comes to our country then we will find the number of states which are pathetically affected by these disasters. The state lies in the queue are Kashmir, Gujarat and Assam for floods, Manipur’s landslide, Gujarat for an earthquake, Indian Ocean Tsunami and many more states of the country which has come under the trap of natural calamities.
